This graphic also illustrates the world's largest ports by annual cargo volume.
Another observation is that a country's GDP is highly dependent on its ports.
A country that does not have ports cannot ship and so, although production comes before exportation and new ports are created due to supply-chain export infrastructure chokepoint demands.
