A stock index is the composite of all of the companies that make up that index, and its return is the average of the returns of all of those companies.

The top 5 performing stock indexes from 2015 to 2025 across the world based on the highest average annual return are the US's S&P 500, Brazil's Bovespa, India's BSE Sensex, Vietnam's VN-Index, and New Zealand's S&P/NZX 50.
